Spongebob Squarepants question about Plankton trying to get the formula?

What's the downside to it? Please don't say "it's just a cartoon" or something I mean honestly. If he steals the formula Krabs can sue for plagiarism. If Krabs just gives it to him, they could have a deal where Krabs gets 10 to 15 percent royalty income. Really it's a win-win for Krabs, so what's so why doesn't he just share the formula? I mean he loves money, and if he shared it the royalty income would give him even more.
